Congratulations to Ron Witherspoon of Arvest Bank in Little Rock, Ark. on being named one of this year’s “40 Under 40” honorees by Arkansas Business.  Each year, Arkansas Business presents a “40 under 40” list to recognize successful business leaders and professionals under the age of 40 throughout Arkansas.

This year there were over 500 new nominations and dozens of still-eligible nominations from previous years.  Of those 500, Ron made it into the top 40.  Well deserved, too.  Currently, Ron is the Executive Vice President and Sales Manager for Arvest Bank in Little Rock.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1995 and moved to Little Rock to join the executive training program at Dillard’s Inc.  In September of 1997, Ron came to Arvest as a manager trainee in Tulsa, Okla.  He was marketing director for the Tulsa area when he transferred back to Little Rock in September 2001.  He’s now been with Arvest for 15 years.

Ron is on the board for the United Way of Central Arkansas and for Junior Achievement.  This year, he is also chair for the American Heart Association’s “Festival of Wines” fundraiser.  Ron said the best advice he could give to young bankers is “whether it’s graduate school or leadership development, don’t stop the development and growth.  It’s so important that you put yourself in uncomfortable positions, which is the only way you learn and grow.”  His mentors include John Womack, Jim Cargill, and the late Ron Strother.  And last, but not least, Ron is a die-hard Razorback fan rarely missing a game.

Congratulations Ron!
